How it's made
The 5Cr15MOV steel is heated to about 1200°C and then shaped with hammer blows. Once the basic shape is in place, the steel is heated again for hardening and cooled down in oil. Then it is heated in the furnace for 1-2h at 120-180°C to temper it. In the last step, the handle is applied and the knife is sharpened by hand. And there you go, a handmade piece of art!
Story behind this knife
The ancient Chinese Taoist philosophy explains the world in terms of two forces: Yin (shadowy) and Yang (bright). Everything in the universe results from the interaction of Yin and Yang.
The dragon and the tiger have long been symbols of these two forces. The dragon, a mythical animal believed to rule over the heavens, represents Yang. The tiger, considered the most powerful of all wild animals in ancient China, represents Yin.
The strongest creatures in history are represented in our Dynasty collection. Among them are the tiger and the dragon. You can find the dragon here. Both knives are impressively hand-forged and designed to complement each other perfectly in the kitchen.
